Marvin Williams is back

You know the name. But this Marvin Williams isn't on the fast track to the NBA. Heck, he isn't on the track to Chapel Hill. He is, however, on track to Division I basketball. That is all the 6-foot-6, 208-pound wing from Florida Prep wants to do.
Since finishing high school in 2005 at Lake Wales (Fla.) High School, Williams went north to Elden Academy in Michigan to work on his academic standing. That trip didn't last long. He left the snow for sun just three months into his stint in Michigan.

Williams landed at Florida Prep in December. He played a shortened seasoned at the school but spent the majority of his time working on his grades. Williams said he took the SAT last weekend and is awaiting word on how he did.
Still a bit of an unknown, schools are catching wind of the athletic wing. He said Providence, Duquesne, Ole Miss, Central Florida and South Florida have inquired of late, Williams said.
While he shares the name of the former UNC star freshman, Williams is not a big time, elite high-major prospect. He is an athletic wing forward that relies on his perimeter game.
"My strength is my shot and size," Williams said. "Me being so much taller than everyone else, I've been able to shoot over the top of the defenders but then go to the hole and play above the rim. I feel like I'm a good defender, too. I want to shine on both ends."
Williams said he would like to hear from more schools and location is nice but it won't be a deciding factor.
"I would prefer to stay in Florida but if I find the right fit, I'll go elsewhere," Williams said. "I just want to play. I want to get into the gym and just play."
