Marquette Adds Texas Guard

Marquette University, which today announced that the groundbreaking for the Al McGuire Center will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2002, (click here), has also been active in the spring signing period.
The Golden Eagles added a combo guard to its 2002 recruiting class when Karon Bradley from Cyrpess Springs, TX, signed a National Letter of Intent with the Conference USA school.

Bradley was also recruited by Oklahoma, Kansas State, Texas, Texas A&M, Rhode Island and South Carolina.
"We are certainly pleased to get someone of Karon's ability," said head coach Tim Crean. "He is an explosive athlete who plays at a high level offensively. His ability to play both guard positions will make him a valuable addition to the team. He is an excellent shooter with good range, has fine leaping ability, and is very good around the basket. We are looking forward to his development."
Bradley, a 5-foot-11 combo guard, averaged 28.0 points, 4.0 assists and 4.3 steals per game for the 26-6 Cypress Springs High School. Included in Bradley's offensive totals were six games of 40 or more points. Cypress Springs was ranked as high as No. 2 in the state playing in Class 5A, the largest class in the state of Texas. He was named to the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches second team in Class 5A.
As a junior, he averaged 21.5 points and 3.5 steals per outing in helping his team to a 26-9 slate.
Bradley joins power forward Steve Novak (Brown Deer, Wisconsin), center Chris Grimm (Brighton, Michigan) and shooting guard Joe Chapman (Chicago Heights, Illinois) as Marquette's incoming recruits for the 2002-03 season.
And Coach Creen, who was named the Conference USA Coach of the Year and who signed a "long-term contract extension earlier this month," will be the guest 'conductor' at the Chicago Cubs-Los Angeles Dodgers April 26 game (2:20 p.m. CST) at Wrigley Field as he will lead the crowd in a rendition of Take Me Out to the Ballgame during the 7th Inning Stretch.
