Marhold picks up big offer

He may be a little under the radar on the national recruiting radar but class of 2009 prospect Andre Marhold is well known around his Charlotte, N.C.
And the schools that are nearby the North Mecklenburg High School prospect know a lot about the 6-foot-6 forward. Marhold visited Clemson in the middle of the week and came away impressed with the ACC school.

"I really liked it there. I liked it a lot," Marhold said.
"It was a nice campus and a nice area. The people there are cool and really organized. You can tell that they will take care of you and they'll stay on top of you as a student and make sure you make the grades. That's the thing that really impressed me. It wasn't about basketball."
Marhold, a self described high-energy combo forward, has already visited Pittsburgh, where he visited last season. Virginia and Virginia Tech looks like the next stop on his unofficial visit trail.
Wake Forest, NC State, Miami and Illinois are also in the picture, he said. Winthrop has offered and Wichita State has an in, Marhold said.
A couple of programs, including Clemson, saw him in Orlando, where Marhold said he was playing at a high level.
"I think overall my performance at the (AAU) Showcase was good. I think I played my best basketball of the year," Marhold said. "I played really well from start to finish."
