Marcelus Kemp Still Exploring Options

Marcelus Kemp thought long and hard about signing early, but the talented 6-3 scoring machine from Garfield H.S. in Seattle, Wash., has opted to sign in the spring.
And considering the fact that he had yet to take an official visit this fall, that was probably a pretty wise decision by the 185 pound sniper.

However, Kemp will take his first trip this weekend when he departs on Friday, Nov. 30 for Nevada-Reno. Kemp's SAT score only recently posted with the College Board, and he had to wait for that to occur before he could take an official visit. He says he probably won't know the score until sometime this weekend, as he has yet to actually receive the results by mail.
Kemp said that a pair of Big East schools -- Boston College and Providence -- are the newest entrants in his recruiting sweepstakes. He also said that Utah and Gonzaga are still in the mix as well.
"I will probably schedule some other visits after my trip to Reno," he said.
Kemp did not rule out an oral commitment to Reno if he is swept off his feet on his visit. His trip will begin on the 30th and end on Dec. 2.
Garfield tips off the season on Dec. 11, but Kemp said that a sprained foot might cause him to miss the first few games of the 2001-2002 campaign.
Kemp is one of the better offensive talents still left on the board in the Class of 2002, and you can depend on the Insiders Report/Rivalshoops.com to keep you posted on his situation this winter and into the spring. Stay tuned!
