Malik Hairston Commits To Oregon

Malik Hairston, the 6-foot-5, 190-pound shooting guard/small forward has given a commitment to the Oregon Ducks. The No. 7 ranked player on the Rivals150 list made the announcement 20 minutes ago inside Renaissance High School Gymnasium. Hairston visited Oregon in late April and was more than impressed with what he saw. The Detroit, Mich., native selected Oregon over the Kansas Jayhawks.
It became apparent early on Wednesday that Oregon would be the school for Hairston. It appears that the 6-foot-5, 190-pound shooting guard/small forward become seriously interested in the Ducks after a lengthy conversation he had with head coach Ernie Kent last week.

RivalsHoops.com spoke to Hairston on Tuesday night and he spent a little time talking about his two finalists.
“The final two are Kansas and Oregon. They both were schools I could go to and play at right away. Michigan is a great program,” Hairston told RivalsHoops.com. There’s a lot to like but the school I have chosen has more to offer to suit me on and off the court
“The opportunity to come in and play right away was what I was looking for and someone who will make a commitment to me,” he added. “The tradition (of KU) is what attracted me initially, then the players. Plus they have a great coach. Oregon plays at a way that is attractive to me. They play a transition style and transition game that is suited to my style of play.”
A more complete update on Malik Hairston and his decision will be posted later this evening
