Majors Look At Heady PG

Anthony Atkinson, a jet quick, 5-10, 145 pound point guard from the Greenfield School in Wilson, N.C., has opened some eyes with his heady play this spring.
Despite his remarkable speed, Atkinson showed that he has the ability to play under control and find open teammates in transition. While rising junior point guard JamesOn Curry, who recently committed to North Carolina, gets most of the publicity for the Gaters program, Atkinson can run the show competently for the North Carolina Gators.

Atkinson told the Insiders Report/Rivalshoops.com that Delaware, Appalachian State, North Carolina and N.C. State were among the colleges who came in to look at him this spring. Virginia and Georgia Tech also expressed some mild interest in Atkinson.
As a junior this past season at Greenfield, Atkinson averaged 25 points, five rebounds, nine assists and six steals.
In the classroom, Atkinson said he has compiled a 3.1 GPA and achieved a qualifying SAT score.
As for the critical July evaluation period, Atkinson is hoping to get an invite to next month's adidas ABCD Camp. In the meantime, he is readying for a summer with tentative pit stops slated for the AAU Nationals (with the Gaters), the Prep Stars Camp and the Pepsi Challenj.
