Lucas impressed with Donovan

Four-star point guard Jai Lucas said he spent the majority of his time at Florida visiting with Coach Billy Donovan over the weekend. Apparently the two hit it off pretty well, since Coach Donovan will follow up Lucas' official visit with a trip to Houston for more face time.
"It was a great visit, and I had a great time," Lucas told Rivals.com. "I spent a lot of time on the campus and got to know a lot of people. But I spent most of my time with Coach Donovan. You can tell what a great coach he is just by the way he explained stuff to me and by how much he loves the game. He explained how I would fit in and the style of play that they want to utilize. After being around him you can really understand why Florida has won back to back national championships."

Beyond the impression that Coach Donovan made on Lucas, he already had a good idea of how he would fit into the Gator program.
"I've been watching them all year," he said. "I know how I would fit into that style, and it is a style that I like."
After vaulting into Lucas' school list after point guard Taurean Green entered the draft, Florida is making up for lost time in a big way.
"Coach Donovan is coming to Houston tomorrow," said Lucas when asked if any coaches were coming to see him this week. "He said since I was gracious enough to come to Florida to visit him, he would be gracious enough to come to Houston to visit me."
Although the Florida visit was a hit with Lucas, he still is not ready to trim his list and a final decision will come next week at the earliest.
"It is still the same five schools that I like," he said. "I might cut the list down this week if I feel like I'm holding people off for no good reason.
"I'm going to think about my decision this week, and get ready for New York. I'll probably be ready to make a decision next week."
While in New York for the Jordan Brand All Star Game, Lucas will spend time with Patrick Patterson discussing their recruitment.
"I've talked with Patrick recently, and I'll talk with him more in New York," said Lucas. "I'll see how he feels about the situation. I know he has a home visit tonight."
