LSU secures Rivals150 forward Darius Days

LSU made another push for legitimacy on Friday thanks to the commitment of Rivals150 four-star forward Darius Days. A hard playing, productive and versatile frontcourt prospect, Days should lend an immediate helping hand in Baton Rouge next year thanks to his toughness, versatility at either forward position and impact on the glass.

Down to a final five of LSU, UNC, Ohio State, Xavier and Louisville, Days’ commitment is another big one for first year head coach Will Wade. A 6-foot-7 forward with a 7-foot wingspan, Days was the lead man for his Florida Vipers unit this summer. On the Under Armour circuit, the top-60 forward averaged over 19 points, nine rebounds and close to two steals per game.

A forward that can slide between the three or the four on any given possession, Days told Rivals what stood out to him about the SEC program. “Coach Greg (Heiar) and Coach (Will) Wade, I love those guys. They were recruiting me when they were at VCU and they just kept the love going so they just recruited me once they got there,” he said. “I just like what they are doing there.”

After missing on in-state Rivals150 forward Josh LeBlanc last week, Days’ commitment is more than just a consolation prize. He has the chance to thrive within the up-tempo system that Will Wade has become known for during his stints at UT-Chattanooga and VCU. The Tigers will lose four frontcourt pieces after this season, opening up a giant need for Days to step in and produce as a freshman.

The third member in LSU’s 2018 recruiting class, Days will join five-star center Nazreon Reid in Baton Rouge next fall, a strong frontcourt tandem that bring a versatile offensive skillset and strong rebounding abilities to the floor. They will aided by the presence of playmaking top-30 guard Javonte Smart, giving the Tigers a top-10 recruiting class with less than three weeks until the early signing period.
