Stripes AAU program. From his travels across the country, a number of colleges
have started taking interest in the mobile big man.
"A bunch of schools are talking to me," said Simpson. "Right now I'm leaning
towards New Mexico State."
Nebraska, LSU, Oklahoma, UCLA, Virginia, and South Alabama are some of the
other schools that are currently involved in Simpson's recruiting. He plans to
start making official visits when school starts back up.
A mobile big man who has the size of a power forward, Simpson may eventually
move over to the small forward if he can continue developing his skill set.
While still a bit raw offensively, Simpson can handle the ball a little and
finishes at the basket well, especially on the break. Defensively, he can be
an intimidating shot blocker and difference maker. At the Rose City Showcase
in Portland, OR, Simpson performed well in a win over the ICA Panthers, with 13
points, seven rebounds, and at least five rejections.
Simpson is well aware of what he needs to work on to get ready for the college
level.
"I need to work on my shooting," said Simpson. "I need to get a little
stronger too."
Simpson currently ranks as Rivals.com's #39 power forward and is rated
#143 in the Rivals150. Be sure to keep checking back with RivalsHoops.com for
updates on his recruitment.
