LSU lands top-50 guard Tremont Waters

The top point guard prospect remaining on the board, LSU made quick work of the recruitment of Tremont Waters as he committed to the SEC program. A 5-foot-11 lead guard that brings a super polished and mature skillset to the point guard position, Waters is a fantastic addition for Will Wade’s first class in Baton Rouge.

Originally signed for Georgetown, Waters backed off of his commitment in March before then sifting through the recruiting process for the second time this spring. Others including Seton Hall, Georgetown, UConn and Creighton did their best to get involved before he took an official visit this past week, which led to his commitment to LSU.

A top-50 prospect in the 2017 class that has led a high-major recruitment since setting foot onto a high school playing floor, Waters will not lack for experience. The battle tested senior has the chance to step in and immediately leave his fingerprint on Wade’s program this winter. With Jalyn Patterson as the lone point guard on their roster and Skylar Mays still transitioning into the position, playing time and the chance to succeed will be presented early on to Waters.

The fourth commitment in the 2017 class for LSU, Waters will be leaned upon for his playmaking skills and crafty scoring arsenal. He will be joined by blue-collared in-state wing-forwards in Galen Alexander and Brandon Rachal, along with rugged and physically imposing big man Mayan Kiir.
