Low Discusses His Decision

Chris Low, a 6-9, 210-pound combo forward from Gorman High School in Tyler, Texas, committed to Arizona State today. "Arizona State was the best fit for what I wanted," Low said. "It was the best balanced athletically, socially, and academically."
Low had taken official visits to Indiana, Arizona State and SMU. Low previously told us he had an offer from TCU. Low was offered by all four schools. "I really thought hard about going also to TCU and Indiana," Chris said. "But Arizona State was the better fit. This didn't mean I didn't like Indiana. I like them a lot. I liked the coaches and the players. But I thought Arizona State was the best situation for me."

Chris also indicated he was speaking to Virginia and Western Kentucky. But Virginia did not offer and was pursuing other forwards such as Sheray Thomas and Luol Deng. "I think with Keith Wooden and myself and the versatility of their guards I have a chance to play a couple of different positions there," Low said. "I think I could possibly play some three, maybe some two. I know I will have a chance to get a lot of minutes as a freshman."
Low proved during the spring and summer he can play among the best competition during the AAU sessions. Low, who competed with Team Texas Elite this spring and summer first showed us his skills at the Rumble in the Bronx last June.
He followed that up with a solid performance at the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions. He has a sweet touch from the outside and a good feel for the game. Low averaged 24 points and 15 rebounds last season as a junior. "I have reached all the schools except for SMU," Low said.
"Arizona State was very happy when I called. I developed a very good relationship with them over the past couple of months. I already spoke to an Indiana assistant. I plan on speaking to coach (Mike) Davis tomorrow. I have plenty of homework tonight and this has backed me up."
