Louisville Tracking Lofton

Uncommitted 2004 prospect Chris Lofton has worked the football out of his system and is averaging 25 points a game for Mason Co. High School, 17-2 and ranked No. 2 in the state of Kentucky. Louisville has now taken notice of Lofton’s ability and is tracking him closely along with four other schools.
“I like Notre Dame, Louisville, Oklahoma, NC State, and Arkansas,” said the 6-foot-1, 185-pound combo guard. “I think Louisville and NC State are close to offering. Coach Larry Harris from NC State was at my game two days ago. Coach Theus and Coach Willard are coming to my game Thursday night. Coach Preston from Notre Dame was at my game a couple weeks ago.”

Although Louisville has used all five of its scholarships for 2004, there is speculation that either Sebastian Telfair or juco Donta Smith may enter the NBA draft, leaving a scholarship open.
Lofton said the Louisville coaches have not discussed the scholarship situation with him but are talking like they want him.
“They are saying that they would like to have me as a two guard,” Lofton said.
When asked who he likes best out of his school list, Lofton had a quick reply.
“Louisville and Notre Dame are my favorites,” he said. “I like Louisville’s style of play, the way they shoot threes in transition. And I like the way Notre Dame gets their two guard off screens and let him shoot.”
After the season, Lofton, currently the No. 146 player in the Rivals150, plans to visit Notre Dame and NC State. He is already familiar enough with Louisville.
