Louisville Stronger With Doherty Gone

There are very few players that can dominate a game like J.R. Smith, the outstanding 6-6 swingman from St. Benedict's High School in Newark, New Jersey. But during this past weekend's Playaz tournament, Smith took it upon himself to do so on a couple of occasions.
Smith showed sweet range on his jumper and a great willingness to go inside and dunk on bigger bodies. These are the reasons why so many high division one programs love him. And it's also the reason why RivalsHoops.com has Smith ranked as the second best player in the 2004 class.

Before the Matt Doherty forced resignation, Smith was leaning to both the Heels and Louisville. "I haven't heard from anyone at North Carolina," Smith said. "I haven't heard from Coach Doherty. I was sad to see what happened."
Now with Doherty out of the way, Smith clearly speaks about his recruiting process. "Louisville is my leader," Smith said. "I wanted to visit them a couple of months ago. But I should do that soon. Louisville wants to set up a visit."
Besides Louisville, Smith said Duke is also being highly considered. Pittsburgh has also made a coaching change and Smith said the Panthers are not in the top list anymore. He previously mentioned Miami too. Smith would not rule out Miami. But it appears like Smith is focusing now on Louisville and Duke.
"I want to make a decision by the Fall," Smith said. "I want to take some official visits before I decide."
Smith previously said he plans on making a decision at the ABCD camp. He could still make that decision if he has the chance to visit some schools before the early July timeframe.
