Lonnie Jackson His Decision

Lonnie Jackson, a 6-8, 190 pound freshman forward from Okaloosa-Walton C.C. in Niceville, Fla., has committed to Ole Miss.
Jackson, who is expected to miss the first six weeks of the JUCO basketball season with a broken elbow, is a freshman qualifier who can leave O-W with three years to play on the Division I level.

Jackson had some Division I interest last year in Carver H.S. in Montgomery, Ala., but a coaching change at his alma mater severely impacted his recruitment.
"He wound up getting overlooked to a certain degree," Stewart said. "Some mid-majors recruited him but he wanted to play bigger, and now he's got that chance."
With three years to play at Ole Miss, Stewart feels that Jackson could be a quality addition to the Rebel basketball program.
"Lonnie has big upside," Stewart said. "He's a good shot-blocker and rebounder, but he broke his arm in a preseason game. It was not a bad break, it was a stress fracture. But nevertheless, it's in a cast."
Jackson is expected to sign a letter of intent with Ole Miss during the early signing period, which runs from Nov. 14-21.
