Longar Longar, the spindly 6-9, 200-pound shot-blocker from Rochester Marshall High School in Rochester, Minnesota, has still not made a commitment, according to Longar's high school coaching staff.
Longar, who had a great visit to the campus of Oklahoma, is down to the Sooners and Connecticut, according to school officials. However, Connecticut recently took a commitment from Josh Boone. But a Big East source tells us that Connecticut is looking to land another player in the 2003 class. No word yet whether Connecticut will cancel the upcoming Longar visit to Storrs.
As RivalsHoops.com reported last week, Oklahoma is the school to beat in this recruiting process. So it would not be surprising to see Longar ink with Oklahoma next month during the recruiting signing period. But school officials at Marshall tell us that Longar has not officially committed.
Longar took an official trip to Oklahoma along with his Team Minnesota teammate point guard Lawrence McKenzie, who has already committed to Kelvin Sampson's program.
Other schools previously in contention for the rapidly developing big-man from The Sudan included Fresno State and Minnesota.
