Lofton Turning to Basketball

Chris Lofton, a combo guard from Mason Co. High School in Maysville, Kentucky, must quickly turn his attention from football to basketball.
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Lofton was a standout wide receiver for a Mason Co. team that made it all the way to the State Semifinals before losing 21 to 14 last weekend.

This weekend Lofton will lead the defending state basketball champs in their first game of the year against Dudley (N.C.) High School at The Marshall County Hoopfest.
“I think it will be good,” Lofton said about the Hoopfest. “It is just my first week, and I will probably be a little rusty. But I have been getting some shots up and working on my conditioning.”
Lofton, the No. 129 player in the Rivals150, has yet to make a commitment, but four quality programs are at the top of his list.
“Notre Dame, Marquette, Oklahoma, and Clemson are the schools I like,” said Lofton. “None of them have offered me yet, but they are in close contact with me about playing the two guard for them.”
