Livingston Discusses UNC Visit

Shaun Livingston returned home from his first official visit of the year. RivalsHoops.com caught up with the 6-foot-6 point guard and discussed his trip to the University of North Carolina. He talked about the campus, the team, Coach Williams and when he’ll make a decision.
The highest rated point guard in the country, according to RivalsHoops.com, flew to Chapel Hill on Friday morning. Upon arrival he met with Coach Roy Williams as the two caught up with each other. A tour around the campus followed, learning about the academics and history of UNC.

Like most basketball players, he couldn’t stay off the hardwood. Livingston went to the gym and some familiar faces showed up.
“I was already on the court and then all of the guys came in, basically the whole team,” Livingston said. “It was the first time meeting Rashad McCants and Sean May. I kinda knew Ray Felton already but not that great.”
Jawad Williams was his official host but spent his time with most of the Tar Heel team. J.R. Smith, who has already verbally committed to UNC, was also in town for his official visit.
With zero open scholarships to give, Livingston wouldn’t elaborate on the exact conversations with the UNC staff regarding the situation. He only said that he feels confident that if Carolina was the school he wanted to go to, then the Tar Heels would have a scholarship for him.
“I’m pretty comfortable with Carolina,” he said. “I enjoyed myself. Right now, I just have a better feel for them in general.”
The prospects of playing for Coach Williams is something that Livingston has given thought too. He believes their styles would compliment each other.
“I think with what I can do and his teaching style that could be a great combination. That’s a positive for me choosing North Carolina. Their style is a nice up and down. We’ll just see how it goes,” Livingston said.
The visit was his first of a four school tour, including future stops at Duke, Arizona and Illinois. He said the UNC trip won’t be his last.
“I still want to take all of my visits before I make a decision,” Livingston said. “It will be before the Thanksgiving week though.”
The Tar Heels will make an in home visit on September 22. Livingston returns to the Triangle on September 19 as he visits Duke for his second official visit.
