Lithuanian shooter finds college home

Lithuanian sharp shooter Zygis Sestokas of Statesville Christian (N.C.) High School has finally found a college home. After official visits to Oral Roberts, Indiana, IPFW and Hofstra, Sestokas, a 6-foot-5, 190-pound shooting guard, found just the right fit.
"I am very blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of such a prestigious institution as Hofstra and play for a coach the caliber of Tom Pecora," said Sestokas. "I appreciate my teammates, coaches, teachers and host parents for providing me the opportunities they have at Statesville Christian.

I will be forever grateful."
Playing alongside 2006 high-major prospect Doneal Mack, Sestokas averaged 15 points and 7 rebounds per game during his senior season while shooting a remarkable 55 percent from behind the arc. His high point game was a record setting game when he broke the North Carolina single game scoring record with a 76 point outburst.
Coach John Jordan of Statesville Christian has nothing but praise for Sestokas as both a player and a person.
"Hofstra is not just getting a great shooter, they are getting a great student athlete," said Jordan. "Zyggy sports nearly a 4.0 GPA in accelerated classes. He is also one of the finest individuals I have ever coached on any level. He cares about his teammates and those people around him."
