Lett considering top programs

The No. 132 ranked player in the class of 2006 Johnny Lett is a Ben Wallace type power forward. Well built at 6-foot-8, 215-pounds, Lett's specialty is rebounding the ball and playing a hard nosed blue collar style of play coupled with athleticism. Several top programs are recruiting Lett, who is from B.C. Rain High School in Mobile, Ala., and one of those programs has already offered him.
"I'm looking at North Carolina, Florida, Alabama, Duke and Kentucky," said Lett. "I'm getting interest from all of them, and Alabama has already offered."

Along with Alabama, Mississippi State has also been down to Mobile to watch Lett although they are not in his top school list at the moment.
Whereas most prospect's first concern when choosing a college is early playing time, Lett is taking quite a different approach to choosing his future school.
"I'll be looking at a program's graduation rate," he said. "Academics will play a key role in my decision. I also want to play for a coach that controls his players and is a disciplinarian. I want to go to a team that plays well as a team and is unselfish."
Lett plans to play summer ball with the Atlanta Explosion and will be working hard to improve his shooting and extend his range.
"I think my biggest weakness is my shooting," he said. "I plan on working hard on my perimeter game this summer.
"My greatest strengths are my ball handling and my ability to rebound the ball. I also try to play hard every time I step on the floor."
Lett averaged 18 points and 15 rebounds per game as his B.C. Rain team finished 14-14 on the season. In the classroom Lett carries a 2.7 GPA.
