Les Norman Expected To Sign

Les Norman, a strong and ultra quick 6-1, 195 pound point/combo guard from Long Beach City College in Long Beach, Calif., is expected to sign with Fresno State this fall pending acceptance to the school.
JUCO Junction/Rivalshoops.com caught up with Long Beach City College Head Coach Gary Anderson at this past weekend's 2001 California JUCO Showcase, and he informed us of Norman's plans.

"Fresno State is a big choice for him," explained Anderson. "He enjoyed a very good summer with us, and Fresno really liked him. We should know within the next couple of weeks whether he gets accepted into the school."
Kansas State was another Division I school who expressed heavy interest in Norman, Anderson said.
The only thing that could cloud Norman's acceptance are some off the court legal issues.
As a high school senior out of Southern Illinois, Norman had committed to San Jose State. After encountering some off the court problems at San Jose, Norman eventually wound up at Long Beach City College, where he played the second half of last season.
Last year at Long Beach, Norman averaged 18 points, eight rebounds and five assists per game.
At this past weekend's Showcase at Fullerton J.C., Norman displayed tremendous quickness, physical defense and a relentless attitude on the basketball court. Although he can be a bit wild and trigger happy at times, there's no questioning that Norman will be one of the better sophomores on the California junior college scene.
JUCO Junction/Rivalshoops.com will keep you posted on Norman's plans this fall, so stay tuned.
