Lemes Finishes Up Trip

Luis Lemes, a solid 6-3, 180 pound combo guard from Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton, Okla., just returned from his first official visit this spring.
According to Eastern Oklahoma Head Coach Jimmy Voight, Lemes visited Brigham Young University.

Lemes, a native of Brazil, had been offered a scholarship by Evansville this winter, but longtime Purple Aces Head Coach Jim Crews left the school recently to take a similar position at Army.
"He had been scheduled to visit Evansville, but when Crews resigned and they hadn't named a coach we canceled that one," Voight said. "I just don't know if he is going to sign with BYU because I haven't talked to him yet."
Other schools that had inquired about Lemes throughout the 2001-2002 school year included Oregon State, New Mexico, East Carolina, Southern Miss and SW Missouri State.
JUCO Junction/Rivalshoops.com had a chance to catch Lemes in action the past two years at the Region II Tournament in Shawnee, Okla., and came away impressed with his shooting ability and leadership qualities.
According to Coach Voight, Lemes' father coaches in a pro league in Brazil.
Lemes averaged 18 points per game this season for the Mountaineers, who finished second in the Bi-State Conference this past season and lost to Arkansas-Fort Smith in the Region II title game for the second consecutive year.
We'll keep you posted on Lemes this spring, so stay tuned for more updates in the coming days and weeks.
