LeBron James Has A Top Five

LeBron James, the terrific 6-6, 225, pound junior guard from St. Vincent-St. Mary H.S. in Akron, Ohio, has a list of five colleges that he is considering.
The Insiders Report/Rivalshoops.com caught up with SVSM Head Coach James "Dru" Joyce at the recent Slam Dunk to the Beach Tournament, and he provided us with an early list of Ohio State, Michigan State, Duke, North Carolina and Florida.

"Those are the schools that are on short list," Joyce said. "He is going to finish high school and graduate with his friends in 2003."
"The list is more static that changeable," Joyce added. "But I am not going to rule out another school that shows interest. We put out a preliminary list to make sure that a lot of schools understand that this is where we are, and who we are and what it's about."
An assistant coach from Ohio State was spotted at James' game on Sunday night at the Slam Dunk to the Beach Tournament.
James led the Irish to a victory over St. Benedict's on Friday night at the Slam Dunk to the Beach, but even his 39 points could not propel SVSM to a victory on Sunday night against Amityville H.S. (an 84-83 loss).
James is a tremendously gifted passer and scorer, and he put those skills on display at the Slam Dunk. In two games, he averaged 28.5 points and eight assists despite being slowed by the flu.
James must continue to work on his rebounding and defense, but there's little doubt that he is the top prospect in the Class of 2003.
James is expected to attend the adidas ABCD Camp in July, and play with both his high school team as well as the Oakland Slam N Jam this summer. Then it's a matter of whether he will apply for the June 2003 NBA draft.
