One of the top remaining point guard prospects in the country is off the board. Three-star senior Shaq Carr made his choice on Friday.
A 5-foot-10 floor general at North Las Vegas (Nev.) Canyon Springs, Carr committed to UTEP Friday morning.
The commitment was confirmed to Rivals.com by sources close to Carr's recruitment and he is a very nice pickup for Tim Floyd's bunch.
One of the more athletic point guards in the country, Carr is extremely quick. Despite being a sub six-footer, Carr can also finish in traffic thanks to his leaping ability and toughness. He pushes tempo and is a very pesky defender because of his ability to move his feet.
Moving forward, Carr will have to continue to work on his perimeter shooting and he'll have to get stronger.
With Carr in the fold, UTEP now has six commitments from the class of 2014. Carr joins four-star shooting guard Chris Sandifer, three-star guards Omega Harris and Tyree Griffin along with under the radar shooting guards Trey Touchet and Lewis Stallworth to make up a perimeter heavy recruiting class.
