Langford To Choose From Four

Now that the summer is over and school has started, it's time for Kevin Langford to make his college decision. The lanky 6-foot-8, 230-pound forward from North Crowley High School in Fort Worth, Tex. has whittled his list down to four and is in the process of scheduling his remaining official visits.
The finalists for Langford's services are Stanford, Virginia, Georgia Tech, and TCU. All four schools have offered. Stanford, Virginia, and Georgia Tech have all been in the mix previously, but hometown TCU has been making late push.

Langford has already taken one official visit to Stanford in May and plans on taking trips to Virginia, Georgia Tech, and TCU in the next two months. Mike Montgomery (Stanford), Paul Hewitt (Georgia Tech), and Neil Dougherty (TCU) will also be making in-home visits within the next month.
We asked Langford to comment on his final four schools. On Stanford: "I feel good about them," he said. "I made an official visit there and I really enjoyed being around the players."
On Virginia:
"I just like the coaches," he said. "I haven't had a chance to visit yet, but I like what they are telling me. They told me I have the chance to play and help them get closer to turning the program around."
On Georgia Tech:
"I have family in Atlanta," he said. "I also have a really good relationship with Coach Hewitt."
On TCU:
"I really have a lot of respect for Coach Dougherty," he said. "I really think
he can turn things around. Also, (Assistant Coach Kevin Lewis) was really close to my brother. So he and Coach Dougherty always treated him and me really well."
Langford does not have a leader at this point. He did, however, comment on what it would be like to play for Virginia or Georgia Tech in the ACC.
"It would be nice to play at a school that's not at the top, but that can compete for the top in the ACC," said Langford.
Since the AAU circuit finished, Langford has been busy working out in an effort to build muscle and get stronger. This season, he would like to get better as a rebounder. He's looking forwards to what could be a championship-level year from North Crowley -- who knocked off rival and defending state 4A champion Fort Worth Dunbar recently in an informal scrimmage.
"I think we're going to be pretty good," said Langford. "Our team coming back is better than last year."
As he sorts out his decision, he will have good guidance from his high school coach at North Crowley, Tommy Brakel, as well as his mother Charlene Taylor (a former player at Texas-Arlington) and older brother Keith, the standout swingman at Kansas. He's been getting some good advice from big brother.
"He told me that nothing in basketball is set in stone," said Langford. "He said to take my time and give everybody equal looks."
Langford is a 4.0 student and has reportedly never received a grade other than
an A.
