Lamptey Will Take A Visit

Many had thought that Julius Lamptey, a massive 7-0, 270 pound center who committed to Georgia during the spring signing period in 2002, was all set with the Bulldogs. However, RivalsHoops.com has learned that Lamptey is taking an unofficial visit to Arkansas next weekend for Midnight Madness.
"He may sign with Georgia," said New Hampton head coach Jamie Arsenault. "He is still in the process of figuring that out. He committed to them last year and signed with them last year. Since he has come up here and I think he is just thinking about it. He said he will probably sign with Georgia. But in the meantime he may look at a couple of places that he personally may be interested in."

Lamptey, who has decided to take his game and books to New Hampton Prep in New Hampshire, one of the country's top schools in preparing students for college, is one of the better big men available in the 2003 class. "Anything can happen with him," Arsenault.
Lamptey is going home to Oklahoma during the meet the parents weekend at New Hampton. He may drive over to Arkansas and take a visit. "Right now, there aren't any other schools besides Arkansas and Georgia," Arsenault. "He is still mostly interested in Georgia..."
Lamptey, who did not qualify academically, will need to strengthen his academic situation before he can play on the college level. Georgia was in a couple of days ago to talk to Lamptey. The Bulldogs have treated Lamptey with upmost professionalism while Julius thinks about his situation on the college level.
On offense, Lamptey has excellent hands and the ability to get off his feet fairly quickly relative to his massive size. "He is not reopening his recruiting process," Arsenault said. "We don't want this to turn into the media circus where he is getting 50 phone calls from coaches. He is interested in talking to Arkansas. Georgia basically is going to have to re-recruit him a little bit."
