Lambert Has Six Offers

Ryan Lambert, a bouncy 6-7, 198 pound power/combination forward from Germantown, Md., is headed to Hargrave Military Academy as a fifth-year senior this fall.
In fact, Lambert is currently at Hargrave attending orientation for the upcoming school year. Last year, he attended Northwest H.S. in Germantown after leaving Stu Vetter's Montrose Christian program.

Lambert enjoyed a terrific week at the Nike Peach Jam Invitational in mid-July, where he suited up for Rob Jackson's D.C. Blue Devils program. He's a mobile athlete with a penchant for making good things happen on the offensive glass.
However, after the Peach Jam, Lambert kind of dropped out of sight. He didn't attend any other events during the live period in July, opting instead to serve as a counselor at [ex-Tar Heel] Kenny Smith's basketball camp in North Carolina.
Even though coaches caught just a glimpse of Lambert in July, his play was enough to generate offers from six colleges -- West Virginia, St. Louis, George Mason, South Alabama, the College of Charleston and Binghamton.
"I am still wide open on schools," Lambert explained. "A lot of them have told me that they are going to come in for the fall workouts at Hargrave."
Lambert is hoping to use the year at Hargrave to boost his core grades, since he did not graduate from Northwest H.S. in the spring. He has scored a 950 on the SAT, so as long as he can boost his core past a 2.1, he will be in line to qualify academically.
In high school and on the AAU circuit, Lambert has been effective as a power forward, but unless he continues to grow upward and outward, he realizes that the key to his future success will be playing the three slot.
"I am looking forward to attending Hargrave, because there are going to be some great players down there," Lambert said. "I am hoping to work on my handle and strength, so that I can make the transition to the three slot."
Lambert said that many of the schools on his list are recruiting him as a three or a combo forward.
He already has the date Oct. 24 circled on his calendar, as he said that's when Hargrave is slated to scrimmage Oak Hill Academy in a much anticipated game.
Depending on whether or not he is able to, Lambert hopes to play in the Charlie Weber Tournament this fall (Oct. 3-5) with the Blue Devils.
We will keep you posted on his play and recruitment in the weeks and months to come, so stay tuned!
