After leading Durango High School to the State Championship game as a junior, Lamar Falley and his family knew that a change needed to be made. The 6-foot-4, 185-pound shooting guard from Las Vegas, Nev., had always been successful on the basketball court, but needed a little more direction on the classroom. After looking at several prep schools, Falley has finally found a place to call home.

"Lamar is attending a basketball academy prep school in Spain," Lamar's father said. "We looked at Brewster Academy, a school in Louisiana and a few others, but we just felt that the school in Spain was the best fit for Lamar. My son actually made the decision to attend the school in Spain.
"I have had the opportunity to speak to Lamar on a number of occasions, and he is doing great," he added. "He wasn't able to come home for his birthday, so I know that was extremely difficult for all of us. Lamar and his mother are very close, so it was tough not having our son around."
The decision to leave Durango High School had nothing to do with Falley's future as a basketball player. In fact, basketball had absolutely nothing to do with the decision. The No. 141 ranked player in the class of 2005 was struggling in the classroom and, because of that, needed more direction and help academically.
"As a parent, it's never easy to sit back and watch your child struggle with the academic side of things," Mr. Falley said. "Lamar, his mother and I felt that it would be best if our he attended a school that would better prepare him for life after basketball. My son has the ability to do whatever he wants to in life, but he needs to be prepared for that, so we decided to make this change."
Prior to leaving for Spain, Falley had been receiving interest from the likes of Arizona, California, Clemson, Connecticut, Oregon, Southern Cal, Syracuse, Tennessee, Texas and UCLA.
