Kyle Wilson Update

Kyle Wilson, a 6-8, 215 pound combination/power forward from Jesuit H.S. in Dallas, Tex., had a very good trip to Illinois this past weekend, according to his dad, Steve.
"We (Mr. and Mrs. Wilson and Kyle) went up there this weekend and learned some more about the school."

Kyle's dad told us that there are several things impressive about the visit. "Kyle is into aviation and they have a school for that," Steve Wilson said. "But that won't decide it."
Kyle's dad also mentioned that Illinois had a personal touch to the visit. "They took a great concern in Kyle as a student athlete," Steve said. "He really liked that."
The next trip for the Wilsons will be to Notre Dame this weekend. There is no football this weekend at South Bend. "We wanted it that way," Steve said. "We wanted to take football out of the equation. Notre Dame has a lot of good things going for it too."
Mr. Wilson told us that his son will probably take a week before deciding between Illinois and Notre Dame. has a pair of colleges at the top of his list this summer.
Wilson previously said he was also considering Xavier, Stanford, Baylor and Northwestern.
Five of the six schools have offered with the exception of Stanford. Stanford typically does not offer prospective student-athletes until they have been accepted to the school by the admissions department.
"We would anticipate probably making a decision by mid-September," Mr. Wilson said. "Kyle has a comfort level with Notre Dame and Illinois and likes Stanford a lot, but I would still think that Notre Dame and Illinois would have the edges there. So if those are his top two schools, and he takes those visits, and he likes one or the other, then there is really no use in going any further."
If for some reason Wilson is uncertain after his visits to Notre Dame and Illinois, his recruiting process might open up a bit, giving the other four schools on his list more of a shot to land him.
As of right now, no in-home visits have been set up, but that could change depending on how his trips to Illinois and Notre Dame go.
Wilson, a skilled combination/power forward from Jesuit H.S. in Dallas, Tex., was one of the top players at the Great American Shootout in Denton, Tex.
Wilson has the ability to put the ball on the floor for a big man and face the basket with range out to about 18 feet. Though he will need to continue getting stronger to mix it up more effectively inside, he may eventually be able to play the three slot at the Division I level.
Wilson helped lead Team Texas Select to the final four of the Shootout, where his club fell to the Tallahassee Wildcats in the final four.
As a junior at Jesuit, Wilson averaged 17 points, eight rebounds, two assists and two blocks per game. Wilson is equally solid in the classroom, weighing in with a 3.2 GPA and 1140 SAT score.
