KUs Jeff Graves: Getting In Shape

Jeff Graves, a 6-9, 260 pound sophomore from Iowa Western C.C. in Council Bluffs, Ia., is still rounding into shape after the basketball season.
An injured knee forced the Kansas bound Graves to miss the Reivers' first seven games of the basketball season, but he bounced back to average 16.6 points and 8.2 rebounds per game for Iowa Western, shooting a crisp 66 percent from the floor.

"Because of the injury, Jeff put a lot of weight back on," Morris said. "He is going to have to shed that weight in order to be effective at Kansas next year."
With Nick Collison expected back for his senior year and the uncertain status of junior forward Andrew Gooden, Graves' presence at Kansas next fall could take on an increased value.
"Jeff is so strong and has great hands," Morris said. "They really don't have a lot of big and physical guys like him in their program."
"He has excellent touch, great hands and seals well on the boards," Morris concluded.
