KU, NC, UCONN, UCLA Pursue Villanueva

Blair Academy forward Charlie Villanueva, 6-10, still has until May 12th to make a decision on whether he put his name into the NBA draft. "He hasn't made any decision yet," said Long Island Pnnthers' head coach Gary Charles.
Villanueva, who helped lead the Panthers to a victory in the IS8 league today, is now considering a possible trip. "He has already taken four visits so he has one left," said Charles. "He might take one to Kansas."

Kansas, who hired Bill Self away from Illinois, is certainly not a surprise. Villanueva had given a verbal commitment to Illinois last Fall but didn't sign a letter of intent. This still makes Villanueva free to sign with any school this spring. "North Carolina has been calling too," Charles said. "Charlie has already seen the North Carolina campus when he played last Memorial Day at the Gibbons tournament. So he knows what the campus looks like."
Charles also added: "Connecticut is very strong too. But Charlie has made a decision yet on whether he will play college ball or go to the NBA."
UCLA and Indiana have also been mentioned being of interest to Villanueva, who has already visited the Hoosier campus.
The clock is ticking. Villanueva will soon have to make some sort of decision in the next nine days.
