Kitchen Looking at Six

Derwin Kitchen, 6-foot-4, 180-pound shooting guard, spent the past weekend on the Florida campus playing for his Jacksonville (Fla.) Rainer High School team in the Florida team camp. The No. 89 ranked player in the class of 2005 has six favorites, and he is now saying there are no favorites out of that bunch.
"My favorites are Wake Forest, Florida, Arkansas, Miami, Virginia Tech, and Jacksonville,” said Kitchen. “All of these schools have offered me a scholarship. I don't have a leader right now. I want to wait until I take some official visits to learn more about these schools. I’ll probably make my decision in November."

The Florida native has been on the Florida campus plenty of times before this past weekend. Although he is not calling Florida, or Wake forest for that matter, one of his leaders, he did have a lot of positive things to say about the Gators.
"I took an unofficial visit to Florida earlier this year,” he said. “I liked it a lot. I like the coaching staff. They’re good guys. I also like the way they play. I had a good time there this weekend. It is a great campus."
Kitchen has nice size for a perimeter player and is a very good shooter. Rivals.com Recruiting Analyst Justin Young noted the improved ball handing and driving of Kitchen during the TOC.
"I’m working this summer on having a complete game,” he said. “I’m working hard on my defense. Also, I’ve been in the weight room, so I can get stronger. I’ve also been working on my ball handling."
Kitchen is set to play in this weekend in the NBA Players Camp and will play in the Reebok ABCD Camp in July.
