Kirkland high on SEC school

Playing alongside a pair of top underclassmen prospects on the MBA Magic team, Malcolm Kirkland found his moments to shine at the Wallace Prather Memorial Classic.
The 6-foot-8, 210-pound forward from Madison (Miss.) Central High School was a consistent, but not flashy, force inside the paint for the Magic last weekend. His play balanced the athleticism of Romero Osby, a top dog from the 2008 class, and Renardo Sidney, one of the top overall prospects in the nation.
Kirkland, a class of 2007 forward plays within himself and showed why a number of schools are intrigued by his college potential.
There is one SEC school that has made an early impression with him.
"Alabama – that's my favorite school," Kirkland said. "If I were to pick today, that is who I would pick. I went to that school before and I liked everything about it. It's close to home, too."
Kirkland said schools from coast to coast are also recruiting him. Connecticut, Syracuse, Oregon, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Auburn, Clemson and Alcorn State have all shown various amounts of interest.
Kirkland said he will re-join his Jackson Panthers team for the rest of the summer.
