Kirk to represent home state

Rivals150 prospect Alex Kirk methodically whittled his list down to Arizona and New Mexico. In the end, the allure of playing in his home state won out.
Kirk, a 6-foot-10, 230-pound center from Los Alamos (N.M.) High School, will hold down the middle for the New Mexico Lobos.

"New Mexico had recruited Alex the longest as far as active recruiting goes," said Kirk's father Allen Kirk. "It being his home state school had something to do with it. He has friends at New Mexico and relationships in Albuquerque that are important to him."
It was not an easy decision, however, for Kirk.
"He struggled with the decision," said Allen Kirk. "He really liked Coach Miller, and either school would have been a good choice. The chance to play early and play in front of friends was big."
Kirk, the No. 11 center prospect and No. 109 overall prospect in the Rivals150, was also contemplating visiting Oregon State and Maryland prior to committing to New Mexico.
A highly skilled big man, Kirk is a scoring threat in both the low post and as a face up shooter with range out to the three-point line.
