Key month could elevate Brown's recruitment to a new level

Each April, prospects emerge on the travel circuit as college coaches are able to see them play against top competition during two live weekends with their grassroots teams. Three-star junior Delonte Brown has a chance to be one of those breakout players.

An athletic 6-foot-5 wing from Toledo (Ohio) Bowsher who can finish in transition and keep defenders honest with his shooting, Brown has high-end measurables and the game to match his physical traits.

He’s not entirely unknown and already has offers from Dayton and Toledo – both of which he’s visited unofficially – to go with interest from Ball State, Wisconsin, Xavier, Iowa and Eastern Michigan. However, a good month with All Ohio Red in Nike’s EYBL means he’ll see his recruitment go to an entirely new level

IN HIS OWN WORDS

“I think I stand out because I play hard and I do the dirty work. I want to make plays that help my team win. ...

“My strength is rebounding and making a good play that doesn’t always get noticed. I need to work on my ball-handling.”

WHAT'S NEXT

Brown told Rivals.com that he doesn’t have a current leader in his recruitment and that he’s in no hurry to make a decision. He did say that an offer from Wisconsin could be a game-changer because it is his favorite program, but he’s open to the process and looking forward to seeing what the month of April brings for him.

RIVALS' REACTION

Based on what we saw from Brown at the recent NY2LA Sports Swish ‘N Dish, he’s exactly the type of under-the-radar prospect who sees his stock soar after a chance in front of college coaches.

He doesn’t say a lot and certainly doesn’t play with flash, but he’s a dirty work guy who always seems to be involved in something positive happening. With his size and athleticism, high major programs are going to take a long look at him.
