Kevin Young Has Top Two

Kevin Young, a massive 6-9, 288 pound power forward/center from the Berkshire School in Homestead, Fl., is seriously considering three schools this summer.
According to Berkshire Head Coach Rolando De La Barrera, Young has a top two of Missouri and Miami, and is also considering Kentucky.

"Missouri is a program on the rise, and they are a team who could make a serious run at the Final Four," De La Barrera said. "Kevin knows he might not play there right away, but he is excited about their program."
"As for Miami," De La Barrera continued, "they are kind of the hometown team, and they play in the Big East conference. I think Kevin sees more of an opportunity to play there right away."
Kentucky has also been in contact with Young over the past few months.
"I think Kevin is one of several players that Kentucky is going after this fall at that position," De La Barrera explained. "He has had several phone conversations with Tubby Smith, but where exactly he fits on their wish list is not clear at this time."
Many other programs had been involved with Young this past spring and summer, including Alabama, Auburn, South Florida, Louisiana State, Tennessee, Temple, Florida State, Florida and Wake Forest.
Young is coveted by many programs due to his combination of sheer size and excellent hands. Although he was not a primary offensive weapon this past summer for the Rashad Anderson led Tallahassee Wildcats, he showed enough good things to keep high Division I program interested in him.
Though Young will need to shed some of his body fat and get into better shape to improve his foot-speed, he'll never be a gazelle or a run/jump type of big man.
IR/Rivalshoops.com will keep you posted on Young's recruitment in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.
