Kevin Steenberge Talks About Richmond

Kevin Steenberge told us it just felt right in making a commitment to Richmond. "I love the coaches there," he said. "The campus is beautiful and it's got great academics."
There were a lot of schools in the running at the end. "St. Joe's, Richmond, William & Mary, Rice, LaSalle, and Dayton were all on my list," Steenberge said. "Richmond told me they will have a senior playing my center position. I won't get sent to the wolves right away. The way they run the middle I can step out and take shots. I like their style of play."

Steenberge told us that playing in the Atlantic Ten was attractive. "It's one of the best conferences in the country," Kevin said. "The main thing I want to work on is strength. Getting into the weight room and adding some muscle."
Steenberge, a 6-10 center who attends River Hill H.S. in Clarksville, Md., had told the Insiders Report in early August that Richmond led for his services. They sealed the deal over the past 48 hours.
"I just like everything about the school," Kevin said. "It's close enough where my family can watch me play sometimes and far enough away from home too."
"I may stay with Baltimore Select and play at the Charlie Weber tournament," Steenberge.
Steenberge averaged 15 points, 15 rebounds and 6.8 blocks as a junior at River Hill. He said he has a 3.8 GPA and scored an 1170 on the SAT.
