Kevin Easley opts in early, commits to VCU

The VCU basketball program has achieved great success on the court for a variety of reasons, one being the work that the staff has done on the recruiting trail. Those efforts were rewarded on Wednesday evening with the commitment of 6-foot-6 junior Kevin Easley.

A long and active forward that brings toughness and versatility to the floor, Easley snuck in for an official visit this past weekend. While a bevy of the local Big Ten and Big East programs had begun to show greater attention for the Lawrence North High product, the foundation VCU laid in recruiting Easley paid off.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

The Rivals150 junior spoke on what stood out to him about the Rams.

“I just liked the whole coaching staff, I love Coach (Will) Wade and I love the school spirit,” Easley said.

Easley can play various positions on the floor, and the Indiana native is the type of ballplayer that has come to flourish on Broad Street. Thanks to his length, sneaky athleticism at the basket, improved shot making skills and versatility on the defensive end of the floor, Easley's upside is something that the Ram faithful will come to love.

RIVALS' REACTION

Easley is VCU's first 2018 commit and represents a fantastic start to what could be another top flight recruiting class within the Atlantic 10 Conference. He has a chance to be a major contributor early on in Richmond.
