Kenyi is a coachs dream

Teams always need a guy like Max Kenyi on the roster. College coaches are starting to see why in the 6-foot-3, 165-pound guard from Gonzaga College in Washington, D.C.
"He plays so hard and I think that is what everybody likes about him," Gonzaga head coach Steve Turner said. "He's leaving everything on the floor and plays the game with a high energy. While he's not going to have the best jumper or beat someone with the dribble, he's going to do something that is going to change the game."

The high-energy player has caught the eye of a wide range of schools this season. Marquette has offered a scholarship, Turner said, as has James Madison and George Mason. A number of other CAA schools are looking and Virginia and Virginia Tech "are keeping strong tabs on him," Turner says.
Kenyi is also a strong student. He carries a 3.7 grade point average and takes college AP classes at Gonzaga, a school noted for its academic prowess. The Ivy League and Patriot League schools are actively recruiting him as well, Turner said.
Even with the interest, Turner said Kenyi is not in a rush to pick a program or even spending too much time running to the mailbox to see who is writing recruiting letters.
"He said to me, 'Coach, I don't even want to talk about that. I want to focus on the team and win the league. Once we win the title, that's when I'll start looking at visits and things like that.' The kid is focused on that.
"Max is just a great all-around kid. He's the kind of kid that calls you on Father's Day or on the weekend just to see how you are doing," Turner said. "Honestly, he's just a coach's dream. You'd want to have a kid like him on your team every year."
