Not that there were many left who might possibly doubt John Calipari's recruiting ability, but the Kentucky head coach has done it again. Saturday night, Calipari and the Wildcats landed five-star senior Kevin Knox once again making it clear who the strongest recruiting force in college basketball is.
A 6-foot-8 combo forward from Tampa (Fla.) Catholic who ranks No. 9 overall in the class of 2017, Knox announced his choice via Twitter on Saturday night picking the Wildcats over Duke, Florida State, Missouri and North Carolina.
A hybrid forward who can play the three in a jumbo lineup or the four in a small ball type attack, Knox brings loads of versatility to an already well rounded class. He is an adept pull up jump shooter, is particularly dangerous as a deep corner three point shooter and is an excellent rebounder and transition finisher.
Knox is Kentucky's fifth McDonald's All-American and five-star prospect from the class of 2017 and gives them a total haul of seven players. He joins five-star combo forwards P.J. Washington and Jarred Vanderbilt, five-star center Nick Richards and five-star point guard Quade Green. The class is rounded out by top 35 combo guard Shai Alexander and top 100 shooting guard Jemarl Baker.
