Things just keep getting better when it comes to John Calipari and his recruiting at the University of Kentucky.
Already in possession of 2017's top ranked recruiting class, the Wildcats added another piece when five-star combo forward Jarred Vanderbilt picked the Wildcats during a Friday announcement that was streamed by ESPNU's Twitter account.
"Next year I will be attending the University of Kentucky," said Vanderbilt during the announcement.
Vanderbilt visited Kentucky during the Fall and said that the atmosphere of the program and Coach Calipari contributed to wining him over and securing a commitment from the Houston (Texas) Victory Prep star.
"I felt like they had a family atmosphere when I went out there," said Vanderbilt. "Coach Calipari is a hall of fame coach and a great personnel coach. I feel like he does the best developing his players on and off the court."
Vanderbilt is a hybrid forward who can make plays via the dribble and his passing as a mismatch power forward. Or, he can be used as a big wing who is able to take smaller defenders to the low post.
The fourth five-star prospect to pick Kentucky from the class of 2017, he joins a class that also includes five-star forward P.J. Washington, five-star center Nick Richards, five-star point guard Quade Green and four-star combo guard Shai Alexander.
