Kemp opening it up

High-potential big man Shawn Kemp is at Chatham (Va.) Hargrave Military Academy for a post-graduate year and has decided to open his recruitment back up.
Kemp, a 6-foot-9, 235-pound center, had signed last year with the former Alabama staff.

"He is going to open his recruitment," Hargrave Military Academy coach Kevin Keatts said. "He signed with the old staff, and the new staff wants to see him play. They only saw him play a little this summer with the Atlanta Express. Both parties agree that this is a good move. It will give Shawn a fresh start and allow Alabama evaluate him."
No other schools are involved at this point, since Kemps decommitment has just come to light. A multitude of other schools are likely to get involved based on what Keatts has seen from his center.
"Shawn is really playing well and has a chance to be really good," Keatts said. "He's starting to get it, and this is going to be a big year for him. If he waits till the spring, my phone will be ringing nonstop."
Kemp is ranked the No. 105 prospect in the 2009 Rivals150.
