Kelly Orchard Makes A Decision

Kelly Orchard, a developing 6-9, 215 pound power forward/center from Bountiful H.S. in Bountiful, Ut., will attend the College of Southern Idaho for the 2002-2003 season, according to Kelly's day, Terry.
"Then Kelly plans on going on a church mission," Terry Orchard told us. Plans to play for a year then go on a church missionis starting to set up some in-home visits, according to his dad Terry.

Kelly had taken a home visit with UC-Santa Barbara back on Sept 20th. In addition, Orchard discussed having in-home visits with both Utah State and Colorado State. In addition to the three schools above, Oregon, Tulsa, and UC-Irvine were also showing earlier interest, Mr. Orchard said.
Orchard played with the Slam N Jam at the adidas Big Time Tournament in July. He also attended the NBA Players Association Camp in Washington in late June and the adidas ABCD Camp in early July, but an injury curtailed his play at both of those events.
Orchard actually kicked off the summer at the USA Basketball Youth Development Festival, where he was a member of the West squad.
Last season at Bountiful, Orchard averaged 10 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks per game. He said he carries a 3.6 GPA in the classroom and has scored an 18 on the ACT.
A player who is still rough around the edges offensively, Orchard's upside is considerable if he continues to work hard and improve. Although he is a bit mechanical in some regards, Orchard moves well north to south and is willing to mix it up in the paint -- good attributes for an inside player.
