Kellermans Stock Will Rise

Chris Kellerman, a 6-foot-7, 200-pound small forward from O’Fallon (Ill.) High School, caught the attention of the RivalsHoops.com staff with his play in the Marshall Co. Hoopfest. The skilled and rangy shooter has some top mid-majors after him, and the list should grow to include some high majors as well.
Kellerman did not shoot the ball well, but based on his technique and ability to get shots off quickly coming off screens, it is evident that he is a shooter. Even more impressive was his ability to put the ball on the floor, both to the left and the right, and find open shooters.

His father and coach, Kevin Kellerman, runs the offense through him for this reason.
“Chris was a little off with his shot tonight,” said Coach Kellerman. “The big factor for Chris is to get stronger. What he does well is pass and shoot. Right now he lacks a little speed, but he is only 16 years old and is still growing into his body. He is hearing from mid-majors like Saint Louis, Butler, Northern Iowa, and Southern Illinois, but I think that list will only grow as he develops.”
As Kellerman gets stronger, he will be able to play lower to the court, helping him get balance on shot and be more explosive to the basket.
Defensively, he was quick off the floor challenging shots and blocking several. As expected with a coach’s son, he was always in the proper position defensively. He was, however, a little reluctant at times to mix it up for rebounds.
Although he does need to get stronger, there are not a lot of 6-foot-7 juniors who are as skilled as Kellerman and have his type of head for the game. Watch for high major interest for this prospect to grow.
