Keeping tabs on Tabb

Once committed and signed with Southern Illinois, Josh Tabb is taking a prep year at Harmony Community School in Cincinnati, Ohio instead of suiting up for the Salukis this semester. Now the 6-foot-4 lefty is looking at signing with another school in a couple of weeks.
Tabb, an Illinois native, looked to be a major steal for the Missouri Valley Conference program this season but a change of heart sent him to prep school and reopened his recruitment.

"I really thought about it and I talked it over with my mom and we decided that there might be a better situation out there for me," Tabb said. "You only have one chance to live so why not be at the best? There is nothing wrong with Southern Illinois but I wanted to look a little bit further."
Travis McAvene, Tabb's new coach at Harmony, says Tabb has been a favorite target for Division I coaches this fall.
"I think he felt like he wanted to get away from home for the next four years," McAvene said. "Since he's opened his recruitment, he's heard from a lot of people."
Tabb said Arizona State, Iowa and Tennessee are the three schools that he is eye-balling at the moment. He's tripped to Knoxville and socialized with the Vols. A possible trip to either Arizona State or Iowa could be on the horizon.
"I've taken a visit to Tennessee and it was nice. I enjoyed it," Tabb said. "I'm going to try and take another visit but I don't know where. I'm going to wait and see just because I'm not for sure yet. I'm going to go home this weekend and talk with my mom about it."
All recruiting aside, Tabb said he's thrilled to be a Harmony this season.
"I think it was a good choice to come here," Tabb said. "I'd rather be here than at a JUCO. We all get along and we could have the best backcourt in the nation and we are all working really well together. It's not like an AAU team. We all know what everybody can do and we try to make it happen."
