Kee making the rounds on visit trail

Florida is no stranger to top flight hoops talent and 2007 is looking like another strong crop of players. One player to watch is Martavis Kee, a 6-foot-2, 180-pound point guard from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale. The junior had a good ending to the summer circuit and now he's reaping the rewards of his play. The three-star guard is taking a number of unofficial visits before he starts the season.
When Jeremiah Rivers left Team Florida to join the Boston-based BABC AAU team over the summer time, Kee was thrust into the starter's role in July. Perfect timing. That's when Kee went right to work.

"I think I was able to really show what I can do. I got more minutes when Jeremiah left. Before then, I was backing him up but when I left I got to show what I could do. I felt like I took advantage of it. We won more games and played better as a team."
With a knack for scoring and with poised leadership and game management skills, Kee showed that he has the complete package for a point guard. Adding 15 pounds since his sophomore season ended, Kee said his confidence went up and now he's taking the ball more to the basket. The high-majors took notice, too. His recruitment has gone to a new level.
With over 100 football prospects in the stands for the FSU-Miami game, Kee also took in the sights and sounds of the Monday night game. He was joined by Seminole recruits Aaron Holmes and John Kreft, who were both on hand for their official visits, Georgia high-flying junior Senario Hilliman and Jamar Moore, also from Georgia. The visit helped push the Noles up his list.
"The team was in Trinidad the first day I was there so the trainer showed me around the locker room and the practice facility. It was all really nice," Kee said. "My interest level really went up in them. Florida State is definitely a school that I'll be looking at."
Kee has been a busy man since the summer ended. He took an unofficial visit to Florida Atlantic on Aug. 31. Then the FSU-Miami game. On Sept. 24, he'll be in Gainesville, Fla., and checking out the Gators. He's scheduled to visit Wake Forest on Oct. 7 and Virginia Tech (his only offer) on Oct. 22. Kee said he'd like to set up a trip to Syracuse, too.
Amidst all of the trips, the 16-year-old just received his driver's license on Wednesday. Might as well test out his new freedom on some of the best college campuses, right?
While no one has emerged as the clear cut leader just yet, Kee said four schools have really peaked his interest.
"I'd say my top schools are Florida State, Florida, Wake Forest and Syracuse," Kee said. "I'm going to wait it out now and just take the visits. I want to take advantage of that time."
Kee averaged 13 points and five assists as a sophomore for coach Steve Strand last year. Kee said he has a 2.7 grade point average.
