KC point guard inks with Nebraska

The early signing period has been good to the Nebraska basketball program. The Cornhuskers signed their fifth three-star prospect on Tuesday with the signing of 6-foot-2, 160-pound point guard Marcus Walker of O’Hara High School in Kansas City, Mo.
"I signed with Nebraska today at 5:00,” Walker told Rivals.com on Tuesday. “I’m very excited. I feel they stuck with me throughout the whole recruiting process, and I felt it was on me to reward them for that."

Walker also cited some other factors such as early playing time and academic considerations that drew him to Nebraska.
"I think I can go in there and play as a freshmen, depending how hard I work from now until then,” he said. “A big factor was that they had my major [Fashion Design].I really like the coaches and players on the team I wanted to go somewhere that it felt like a family atmosphere, and I felt Nebraska had that. I like that it is close enough that people can come see me play, and that means a lot to me."
Walker still has some academic work to do before he can suit up for Nebraska.
"A lot of big schools [Kansas, Missouri, Illinois and Cincinnati] were recruiting me early on, but they were scared I wouldn't qualify and stopped,” he said. “I have no doubt in my mind that I will qualify. I took summer classes and am taking night classes right now to get ready for college. I need to take the SAT again, but I feel I will do well. In the end it came down to Nebraska and Kansas St and I felt Nebraska was the best place for me."
Walker joins a strong 2005 Nebraska recruiting class of Jamel White, William Harris, Chris Balham and Kyle Marks.
