Marquis Kately, a 6-5, 200 pound small forward/swingman from Archbishop Riordan H.S. in San Francisco, Calif., has narrowed his focus to three colleges this spring.
Kately had committed to California in the fall, but never signed with the PAC 10 program. His mother told the Insiders Report/Rivalshoops.com that Marquis expects to have a decision within the next week or so.
Kately took an official visit to Utah two weeks ago, and also has interest from Fresno State and California.
Since Kately has yet to qualify academically, Cal has discussed the possibility of signing him this spring and having him attend prep school in the 2002-2003 school year.
Mrs. Kately said she has been on the phone with Maine Central Institute in the past week.
"If he goes to Cal, he will have to go to prep school," she said. "Fresno just started recruiting him since the new coach got there."
Kately enjoyed a terrific summer last year with the Oakland Slam N Jam program.
