After weeks of anticipation and speculation, Malik Hairston has narrowed his list of schools down to two. The 6-foot-5, 190-pound shooting guard/small forward from Renaissance High School in Detroit, Mich., has scheduled a press conference for Wednesday afternoon inside the Renaissance High School gymnasium. Kansas and Oregon are the finalists for the No. 7 ranked player on the Rivals150 list.

“The final two are Kansas and Oregon. They both were schools I could go to and play at right away. Michigan is a great program,” Hairston told RivalsHoops.com. "There’s a lot to like but the school I have chosen has more to offer to suit me on and off the court.
“The opportunity to come in and play right away was what I was looking for and someone who will make a commitment to me,” he added. “The tradition (of KU) is what attracted me initially, then the players. Plus they have a great coach. Oregon plays at a way that is attractive to me. They play a transition style and transition game that is suited to my style of play.”
