Kansas Makes Up Ground For Shavlik Randolph

Shavlik Randolph, a talented junior forward from Raleigh (NC) Broughton, goes about 6-9, 6-10 and weighs from 210-215 pounds. It appears Kansas has made some great strides in this recruiting battle.
"Coach Roy Williams has really picked it up," said Shav's mom. "But he hasn't a leader right now. He really doesn't know."

Kansas is one of the great all-time programs in the history of college basketball and the Randolph family recognizes it. They also recognize the loyalty that Roy Williams showed to the Kansas program a year ago when he stayed with the Jayhawks.
"Coach Williams is one of the best coaches in the country," said Shavlik's mother. "That means a lot. I would say they are one of the schools that Shavlik is considering seriously."
It appears Seton Hall was weakened in this race with Tommy Amaker and Eddie Griffin gone. "He really admires Eddie Griffin," Shav's mom told us. "He had a chance to room with him and he really enjoyed his company."
Wake Forest has been slightly weakened with the departure of Dave Odom while Florida is very strong. "He took a visit to Florida," said Shav's mom. "He was very intrigued with Florida."
His list is long but the top schools that are recruiting him include Kentucky, Kansas, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Duke, Florida, Seton Hall, Stanford, Southern Cal, and Wake Forest."
He wants to take visits to Stanford and Southern Cal," Shav's mom told us. "Both have recruited him hard. So when he is on the West Coast again he wants to visit both schools."
Randolph is considered one of the top players in the class of 2002 and perhaps the best player in this year's class. HE is a legimate McDonald's All American candidate for next year's game.
