Once Bill Self offered him a scholarship to Kansas, three-star shooting guard Ochai Agbaji didn't need much time to make a commitment.

Thursday afternoon at Kansas City (Mo.) Oak Park, the senior announced his verbal commitment to the Jayhawks.

The commitment came just a few days after Agbaji made his third unofficial visit of the winter to Lawrence and was offered a scholarship.

“Kansas is a winning school and a winning culture with a winning coach," Agbaji told Rivals.com. "There is no other place I would rather play than there. It’s a great school also.”

Agbaji had seen his recruitment explode over the past few weeks attracting offers from others like Oregon, Nebraska, Oregon State, Oklahoma State, Wisconsin and Texas A&M while Jayhawks assistant Norm Roberts had been keeping tabs on him.

Last Friday night, though, Self made it out to see Agbaji play and things moved quickly from there.

“He was really impressed," said Agbaji. H"e actually brought Larry Brown with him and he was impressed too. That was really exciting. He thought I had a really good body and a nice tight stroke on my shot. He was even more excited after seeing me play in person.”

An athletic and long armed wing with toughness and a good looking jump shot, Agbaji joins a loaded recruiting class that already includes McDonald's All-Americans Quentin Grimes, Devon Dotson and David McCormack.

“I just want to go in as a freshman and work for those minutes, that’s what I’m looking forward to doing," said Agbaji. "It’s about knowing my role and doing whatever it takes for the team to win."
